2005 – Marcella Vanzo – Ama

A glimpse is a moving fragment, a bridge connecting spectator and action. As soon as I arrived at Ama, this glimpse took on a form: a swift, complex weave of natural, carnal fibres – earth, grass, maternity, body as field. A race from field to body.
Between mother and daughter, actions are inter-etched. It’s a deeply carved sculpture from a glimpse in a microscope, showing a gesture which recurs ad infinitum. It’s the gesture that connect mankind – womankind – to nature.
